ELECTRIC BOILER REPAIR

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF AN ELECTRIC FIRED BOILER

Fig 1.diagram of an electric boiler

Electric current is run through the heating element that acts as a resistor to create heat through resistance. Water from the system or holding tank is then run over or near this hot element in a pipe or tank, heating the water to a suitable temperature, then making the water hot enough to boil and become saturated steam at which point the saturated steam is transported to wherever it is needed via the steam pipes that exit the body of the electric boiler.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE AN ELECTRIC BOILER INSTEAD OF THE OTHER TYPES OF BOLERS?

It’s not just a myth. The electric boilers have some advantages over the other types of boilers. This advantages includes:

1)Electric boilers may actually be cheaper than using a fuel heated boiler.

2)It is much more environmentally friendly since there is no exhaust/waste products are released into the environment.

3)The electric boilers also require less equipment to be installed than a traditional boiler helping to reduce the high installation costs that will come with a fuel heated boiler.

4)Electric Boilers can fit into smaller areas due to the way they are constructed and also lack the bulky required parts that a fuel heated boiler requires to operate.

HOW WILL I KNOW MY ELECTRC BOILER NEEDS REPAIR?

The following are signs that indicates need for repairing your electric boiler.

Since the electric boiler run on electricity, the following things should be signs of faulty circuit and once noted one should a technician’s assistance if not able to work on the problem by yourself.

  • Buzzing or crackling sounds that results from circuit-breakers tripping, fuses blowing or heat coming from wiring.
  • Burn marks on plugs or sockets.
  • Smelling fuse box due to burning.
  • REPAIR TIPS FOR YOUR ELECTRIC BOILER

    =>The Electric supply

  • Ensure the electricity supply is on.
  • =>The Boiler thermostats and controls

  • Ensure the central heating thermostat is the ON position (is set higher than the room temperature).
  • If the timer on your central heating controls isn’t working and it is not set correctly (check whether it switches the boiler on), then you may have problem the power source.
  • Over time, thermostats can lose their accuracy due to age resulting in your thermostat wrong interpretation of temperature settings and turning the heat on or off at incorrect times. The old thermostat should be cleaned and recalibrated.
  • =>The liquid crystal display (LCD) and electronic board.

  • Check that the LCD display to ensure that it is correctly working.
  • Check the circuit board electronics or relays to ensure they haven’t failed.
  • If need be for you to replace the programmer, make sure the new one has a universal back plate which makes future replacements simple.

Otherwise should all the above be done and the boiler still does not work properly, call an electrician or someone with good electricity knowledge. MISHADLING OF ELECTRICITY CAN BE FATAL!!!
