Those higher frequencies are intended for use in applications that are more specific and private.

It has already been established that the frequency spectrum is now allocated for specific use and applications. Such fact is the reason why applications are being pushed into much higher frequencies. Every time a new application is discovered, it is instantly dedicated with higher frequencies in order to efficiently accommodate them. Like all other things, each of the frequency in the spectrum comes with each set of advantages and disadvantages. Both these aspects are mainly concerned about propagation efficiency, signal strength, noise and interface.

How RF Communications Works

It simply works by producing electromagnetic waves at a specific source. Once produced, these electromagnetic waves are picked at a certain destination. These electromagnetic waves are traveling through air at a speed that is close to the speed of light. As for the electromagnetic signal’s wavelength, the higher the frequency is, the shorter its wavelength is. In terms of performance, it can be said that it is the longer wavelengths which can better provide it. Longer wavelengths normally travels at a much greater distance and is capable of penetrating through as well as around objects, which it is better at than those signals having shorter wavelengths.

Other than these, those interested in RF Communications must be aware that FCC is just one of the regulatory bodies controlling and regulating use of frequencies. And if there is a generally accepted band worldwide, that would be the 2.4 GHz band.
