Chicken dumplings recipe

This Chicken and dumplings recipe is easy to make and takes a preparation time of about 30 minutes and a cooking time of about 50 minutes. In a total time an hour and twenty minutes, you can cook a dish that will yield to four or six servings. It is up to you to do it the traditional way or with any creative way, you would require. For examples, few may like to steam to get the chicken dumplings.

Ingredients required for Chicken

  • chicken (2 1/2lbs) , cut into 8 pieces
  • celery three ribs , chopped
  • One large red onion, chopped vBay leaves (3)
  • chicken bouillon cubes (2)vcream of chicken soup 1 (10 3/4 Oz) can
  • House Seasoning made at home, 1 teaspoon
  • (Mix ingredients together to make the house seasoning and store in an airtight container that can be kept up to six months)

  • All-purpose flour, 2 cups,
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Ice water
  • House Seasoning:
  • 1-cup salt v1/4 cup black pepper
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder

    Preparation method

    Place in a large pot, the chicken, bouillon, onion, celery, bay leaves, and house seasoning. Add four quarts of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. The chicken should be simmered for about forty minutes until it becomes tender and the thigh juices run clear. Remove the chicken from the pot and when it becomes cool, separate the meat from the bones by removing the skin. Then, return the chicken meat to the pot. In addition, keep it warm over low heat.

    To prepare the dumplings, mix the flour with the salt and mound together in a mixing bowl. Drizzle a small amount of ice water over the flour in the center of the mound. Use your fingers and move from the center to the sides of the bowl to gradually incorporate about 3/4 cup of ice water. Knead the dough and form and make into a ball. Dust the flour onto a clean surface and roll out the dough for about to 1/8-inch thick. Keep it aside for a few minutes.

    Add the cream of chicken soup to the pot with the chicken and simmer gently over medium-low heat. Cutting the dough into pieces of about an inch, drop them into the simmering soup. Continue to drop and do not stir the chicken once the dumplings have been added. Shake the pot in a circular motion to get the dumplings e submerged and cook evenly for about four minutes, until the dumplings float. Now the chicken, its gravy and dumplings are ready to be served.

    General Tips

    You can also steam the chicken to do chicken dumplings. For one person to eat happily, 250 grams of chicken would be sufficient and do not forget to mince it nicely. Chicken dumplings taste good with either soya sauce or a simple chili sauce. The dumplings should be covered while cooking and frequent checking should not be done. Allow four or five minutes to get the dumplings cooked completely.
